About Tammy Nelson, MSW, RSW
Tammy Nelson is a compassionate and dedicated professional with a strong foundation in both Indigenous and Western healing practices. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work (2010) and a Masters of Social Work focused on Indigenous Knowledge (2019) from the University of Manitoba. Currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Social Work, Tammy is also a graduate of the WHEAT Institute, where she earned certification in Indigenous Expressive Arts Therapy.
With a background in Child Welfare and a specialization in Youth Exploitation Investigations, Tammy has contributed to numerous initiatives aimed at combatting human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children and youth. She is the author of *Mookii Mikinak: Traditional Road to Healing for Indigenous Women Who Experienced Sexual Exploitation*. As an Indigenous woman, Tammy integrates cultural practices into her therapeutic work with children, using the arts as a means of healing. She remains deeply connected to her community and is a proud advocate for cultural healing and empowerment.
